I am sitting here thinking about changes in my own life. There was so much that happened in 2010. There are going to be a lot of changes in 2011. Apparently, Starbucks also felt the need for a change too.

I think I am going to hold off on any judgements on this new logo until I get used to it. It is definitely different – and I think it speaks to the power of branding. Starbucks doesn’t even need to be known by their name but by a logo. I am just not sure that it will work. If I am going to buy an expensive coffee mug, it is sure as hell going to have the words Starbucks Coffee on it – not just a nameless logo.

When I look at the old Starbucks logo, it makes me thirsty for coffee. I wonder if the new logo will eventually have the same Pavlovian affect?
